We didn’t start under the name “Baianat”… But the first beginning of our success journey was back in 1964.

Established in 1964 by Dr. Saud Mohammed Ali Al-Shawaf in Riyadh, the office quickly built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality commercial legal services in Saudi Arabia. Driven by a commitment to excellence, the firm expanded its expertise to include intellectual property rights, patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and a wide range of commercial matters. With continued growth and increasing client demand, the firm attracted additional experts to maintain its professional standards and ongoing success.

SMAS Intellectual Property
By relying on highly skilled lawyers and legal consultants, the firm evolved into SMAS Intellectual Property Company, continuing the strong growth that began in the 1960s. Our network expanded steadily, positioning SMAS as one of the leading legal agencies in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
With a commitment to excellence, Dr. Saud Al-Shawaf and Mr. Nawaf Al-Mutairi, the company’s current manager, launched a regional expansion across neighboring countries in the Middle East and North Africa. This growth phase included establishing new branches, recruiting top legal talent, and developing their expertise to uphold our professional standards and meet our clients’ needs.

Baianat was created as an extension of SMAS, carrying forward the company’s founding expertise under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Saud Al-Shawaf, Mr. Nawaf Al-Mutairi, and Sheikh Ayyad Al-Otaibi. With the decision to expand, Baianat Intellectual Property Company was established as a sister company to operate locally and internationally with a specialized focus. Several branches were registered across the Kingdom, and the company quickly earned customer trust thanks to its strong practical and scientific experience.
Today, Baianat serves more than 7,000 clients—individuals, companies, and commercial institutions—supporting them from the early stages of their projects, developing ideas, protecting ambitions, and safeguarding all intellectual property rights in every form.
